Worst episode ever. Some more recent episodes are lacking in plot, but none of them quite so severely as The Principal and the Pauper. Not only was there no plot, the writing in general was terrible - there wasn't a single point in this episode that made me laugh. After the magic that was seasons five and six, this was a bitterly disappointing turn for the show. Before people start having a go at me for overplaying it, I would like to point out that almost everyone working on The Simpsons at the time shares my opinion. People left the show because of this episode. That's how bad it is.

Ah, Principal and the Pauper. The famous herald of the end of the golden age of The Simpsons. :( Horrible episode and it was largely down hill from here. Out with the character driven narrative, in with the random zaniness.
